Indole is an intelligence platform that maps people, organizations, and the signals between them. Because our work involves information about people, we treat privacy as a core part of the product — not an afterthought. This policy explains, in plain terms, what we collect, why, and what choices you have.
1. Who this covers
This policy applies to two groups. First, our users— the people and organizations who use Indole products such as Indole Search. Second, the people represented in our graph— the professionals, organizations, and public figures our products help users research and reach.
The information practices differ between these groups, so we’ve called out the distinction wherever it matters.
2. What we collect from users
When you use an Indole product or contact us, we collect the information needed to provide and improve the service:
- Account and contact details— your name, work email, organization, and role, provided when you request access or get in touch.
- Search activity— the mandates, queries, and shortlists you create, so the product can do its job and so you can return to your work.
- Usage and device data— standard logs such as IP address, browser type, and pages viewed, used to keep the service secure and reliable.
We do not sell user data, and we do not use it to train models for anyone other than the Indole products you use.
3. People represented in the graph
Indole’s products reason over a graph of people and organizations built from publicly available and lawfully obtained sources— professional profiles, company information, public records, news, and similar signals. We resolve these into a single record per real-world entity and infer the relationships between them.
If you are represented in our graph and want to know what we hold, correct it, or ask us to remove it, write to hello@indole.io and we will respond within the timeframes set out in section 7.
We do not knowingly build profiles of children, and we exclude categories of sensitive information that are not relevant to professional pathfinding.
4. How we use information
We use the information described above to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve Indole products and the technology beneath them.
- Resolve entities, infer relationships, and surface the signals our products are built to find.
- Respond to your requests, and follow up about access and support.
- Keep the service secure, detect abuse, and meet our legal obligations.
Where the law requires a lawful basis, we rely on our legitimate interest in operating a professional-intelligence service, on performing our contract with you, or on your consent — as applicable.
6. How long we keep it
We keep user information for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward to meet legal, accounting, and operational needs. Graph records are kept current and refreshed from their sources; records can be removed on request as described in section 7.
7. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, restrict, or delete information we hold about you, and to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these, email hello@indole.io.
We aim to acknowledge requests within five business days and to resolve them within thirty days. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
8. Security
We protect information with encryption in transit, access controls, and the principle of least privilege across our systems. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but we work to meet a high standard and to respond quickly if something goes wrong.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our products evolve or the law changes. When we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, let users know directly.
10. How to reach us
Questions about this policy, or about the information we hold, can go to hello@indole.io. We read every message and reply within two business days.
